Like most amateur groups, we have been prevented from meeting and performing during the current Covid-19 crisis. Nevertheless, we are determined to keep going, doing what we can to ensure that we can return to live music-making, well prepared and in good voice, as soon as conditions permit. With this in mind we will be providing a programme of virtual events for our members aimed at
- developing a repertoire of short a cappella pieces
- ·advance preparation of Fauré’s Requiem, which we plan to perform with orchestra next year
The programme will begin with an online open rehearsal on Sunday 27th September. This is offered free of charge to members and non-members alike. Click here for more information and to register.
After this, weekly sessions will take the form of virtual rehearsals via Zoom, alternating with pre-recorded video tutorials tailored to the needs of the respective sections of the choir.
If and when official guidelines allow, we will supplement these online sessions with limited live rehearsal sessions at our usual venue, the Church of St Anne & St Andrew, Salusbury Road.
Recognising that for the time being we cannot offer our usual programme of live music-making, we have set the membership fee at £100 for the whole of the 2020/21 season, with a concessionary rate of £40. This will remain the case even if, as we very much hope, we are able to revert to our usual programme of live rehearsals and concerts.
